Illinois Springfield men's soccer returns to the road Saturday afternoon for a non-conference matchup against St. Cloud State in St. Cloud, Minn. The Prairie Stars enter the contest at 0-3-1 and will look to break through offensively against the Huskies. The game is set for a noon kickoff.

UIS has scored twice through its first four matches, with both goals coming from Gentil Selemani. His most recent goal came against Lincoln with an assist from Robin Bergseth. Freshman goalkeeper Kevin Kardel has been a bright spot early in the season, averaging more than five saves per game through the team's first four contests. 

The Prairie Stars will look to establish more consistent pressure in the attacking third against St. Cloud State before returning home to resume GLVC play next week against Truman State. 

St. Cloud State enters Saturday's match at 1-3-0. The Huskies most recently fell 2-0 to Jamestown in their home opener. Andres Garcia leads St. Cloud State with three goals through four matches, while Yousif Atia has scored the team's only other goal this season.

Two goalkeepers have seen action for the Huskies, with Erik Willke playing the majority of the minutes. Willke enters Saturday with a 2.83 goals-against average and a .621 save percentage.

Both teams have faced challenges generating offense early in the season, making Saturday's matchup an opportunity for either side to build momentum before turning its full attention to conference play. 

Saturday's match will mark the second meeting between the programs. St. Cloud State earned a 3-2 victory in Springfield during the 2024 season, the first season under head coach Graham Shaw.
