The UIS women's soccer team returns to action Wednesday for its final non-conference match of the season, traveling to Purdue Northwest for a 10 a.m. kickoff at Dowling Park. Wednesday's match has been moved from its originally scheduled 3 p.m. start time due to a heat advisory.

The Prairie Stars enter the match at 1-1 after splitting their opening weekend. UIS opened the season with a 2-1 road victory at Alabama Huntsville, with Addi Wittenberg opening the scoring before Mallory Herber put the Prairie Stars back in front after UAH equalized.

UIS came away from Sunday's 1-0 loss at Trevecca Nazarene with plenty of positives despite the result. The Prairie Stars generated several quality opportunities and connected well in the attacking third but were unable to find the finishing touch needed to get on the scoreboard.

Wittenberg and Herber have provided early offensive production for UIS, while transfers Sophia Davila and Autumn Diduch have also been active in creating quality chances. The pair are among a group of newcomers who have quickly made an impact as the Prairie Stars continue to develop their chemistry.

In goal, Gigi Yurevich has played every minute through the first two matches. She has made five saves and enters Wednesday with a .714 save percentage.

Purdue Northwest is 1-0-1 on the season after opening with a 1-1 draw against Quincy before earning a 4-0 road victory at Truman State. The Pride have received scoring contributions from five different players, while four players have recorded assists. Nayla Pena and Natasha Tanner have each recorded a goal and an assist through two matches.
