UIS men's soccer hits the road Sunday afternoon for its first away match of the season, traveling to Macomb, Ill., to face Western Illinois at 4:00 p.m. at John MacKenzie Alumni Field.

The Prairie Stars opened the 2026 season Thursday at home against Alabama-Huntsville, falling 2-1. After UAH took an early lead, UIS battled back to even the match, but the Chargers scored again in the second half. The Prairie Stars were unable to find a late equalizer.

Freshman goalkeeper Kevin Kardel provided a strong performance, recording six saves to keep UIS within striking distance throughout the match.

Western Illinois enters Sunday's contest at 1-1 after splitting its first two matches. The Leathernecks opened the season with a 3-2 win over Quincy before falling 3-1 to DePaul.

George Frost has emerged as an early offensive threat for Western Illinois, scoring two of the Leathernecks' four goals this season. Marco Presta and Adam Reiniger have also found the net, while several other players have registered shots on target.

Goalkeeper Harvey Bolland has started both matches for Western Illinois. The senior transfer has previous experience in goal at two other programs.

Sunday's match will give UIS its first opportunity to earn a result on the road as the Prairie Stars continue the opening stretch of the 2026 season.
