Snider Earns GLVC Pitcher of the Week After Dominant Relief Appearance

4/6/2026 12:15:00 PM

Richie Snider was named the GLVC Pitcher of the Week after delivering the key outing of the weekend in the series finale against Truman State.

With No. 17 Illinois Springfield trailing early and facing a bases-loaded, no-out situation in the first inning, Snider entered in relief and immediately changed the momentum of the game. He escaped the jam without allowing another run and went on to toss five shutout innings to help the Prairie Stars secure a 7-5 win.

The redshirt junior allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out nine batters. He recorded two strikeouts in the first, second, fourth, and fifth innings during his outing. He also picked up his first win as a Prairie Star in the game.

Snider helped Illinois Springfield finish the weekend with three straight wins after the Prairie Stars dropped the series opener. The Springfield native earns the first Pitcher of the Week award of his career.

He is the first Prairie Star to earn the honor since Isaac Graf received the award on Feb. 17.

Snider and the Prairie Stars are set for a 2:00 p.m. road matchup at UMSL on Tuesday, followed by a weekend series at Missouri S&T.
