The Illinois Springfield women's tennis team returns from its midseason break with a non-conference matchup at Truman State. The Prairie Stars and Bulldogs are set to take the court at 2:00 p.m. in Kirksville as UIS looks to build momentum ahead of conference play.
Illinois Springfield (3-7)
UIS enters the match following a mixed stretch before the break, showing flashes of strong play. The Prairie Stars earned back-to-back wins over Evangel (7-0) and Roosevelt (5-2), displaying depth across both singles and doubles lineups. In their most recent outing, UIS dropped a narrow 4-3 decision to Purdue Northwest.
The Prairie Stars will look to sharpen up as they prepare for GLVC play in the coming weeks.
Truman State (6-4)
Truman State enters with a 6-4 record, though the Bulldogs have faced limited Division II competition so far this season. They opened the year with convincing wins over Grand View and Principia, both by 6-1 scores. Recent schedule disruptions included a postponed match against College of Saint Mary and a canceled contest with Ottawa.
In their last time out, the Bulldogs fell 5-2 to Fort Hays State. Despite limited D-II matchups, Truman State has found success against outside competition and will look to defend its home court.
