2/24/2026 4:00:00 PM

Illinois Springfield softball continues its early-season home stand Wednesday when the Prairie Stars host Roosevelt in a noon doubleheader inside the Springfield Clinic Dome at Scheels Sports Park.

The doubleheader is a rematch of the season-opening doubleheader in Rosemont on Jan. 30, where the two teams split the series. The Prairie Stars claimed the opener 3-0 before falling 2-1 in the nightcap.

Illinois Springfield (10-4)
UIS enters Wednesday with a 10-4 overall record, reaching double-digit wins during a strong start to the season. The Prairie Stars will also wrap up a 10-game home stand at Scheels Sports Park.

The Prairie Stars continue to lean on standout pitching and balanced offense early in the year. GLVC Pitcher of the Week Calista Stahlhut delivered two complete-game victories last week as part of a 3-1 weekend for UIS.

Stahlhut leads a pitching staff anchored by both control and strikeout ability, while also contributing at the plate when needed. Two-way standout Rosie Bartletti has been one of UIS' most versatile threats, posting strong numbers in the circle and in the batter's box.

Offensively, the Prairie Stars have been paced by a deep lineup that includes Emme Steward, who is hitting .469 with a 1.568 OPS and 15 hits on the season, including four home runs and 15 RBIs. Bartletti is also batting .419 with 19 runs scored and 17 stolen bases.

Additional key contributors include Olivia DeLuca, Bailey Masching, and Sidney Sawyer, each providing steady production across the lineup.

Roosevelt (5-3)
The Lakers enter the week at 5-3 overall and have gone 4-2 since meeting UIS earlier this season. The Lakers competed in the Lewis Invitational Feb. 19-22, picking up several wins against strong competition, including a 14-5 victory over Lewis.

Pitching will be a focal point in the series, as both teams feature staffs capable of controlling games in the circle. Roosevelt's staff is led by Kailey Hancock, who owns a 0.37 ERA with one earned run allowed over 18.2 innings.

The Roosevelt Lakers softball also bring a balanced lineup offensively, led by several hitters who have gotten off to strong starts this season. Four regulars are batting .340 or better, including Rebecca Urbaniak (.400), Kendall Pearson (.385), Ella Dvoracek (.379), and Kennedi Robien (.348), giving the Lakers multiple players capable of driving the offense. The top of the order has been particularly productive at setting the table and generating scoring opportunities.
