The Prairie Stars men's track team competed against one of the strongest fields of the indoor season Saturday at the GVSU Big Meet, turning in personal records and competitive marks across middle- and long-distance events. With two weeks remaining before the GLVC Championships, the meet served as a key benchmark against top regional competition.
Freshman
Chase Cooley led the Prairie Stars in the mile, posting a personal record of 4:17. Fellow freshman
River Derby followed with a PR of 4:25, highlighting a strong underclassman showing in the event.
UIS showed notable depth in the 3,000 meters, led by freshman
Charlie Borlin's 8:44.
Owen Whelan finished right with him, while Dominic Cantarini (8:46) and
Garrett Wagoner (8:47) rounded out the top 20 in the open event.
"This weekend was a step in the right direction for our team," said head coach
Emmons King. "We got athletes back on the track, hit conference marks, and now have two weeks to get ready for the conference championship!"
