The Illinois Springfield women's tennis team returns home Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. to face Michigan Tech in the Prairie Stars' official home opener at Springfield Racquet and Fitness Club. The match is the first of seven combined home dates for the UIS men's and women's programs this season, giving fans multiple opportunities to support the Prairie Stars.

Illinois Springfield (1-4)
UIS enters the weekend 1-4 overall after earning a hard-fought 4-3 road win over Thomas More University last week. Strong doubles play helped lift the Prairie Stars, with Ema Norma Bordean and Niamh Grogan securing a 6-2 victory at the No. 1 position. At No. 3 doubles, Jane Carter and Cristina Mendoza Romero added another key point with a 6-4 win.

UIS carried that momentum into singles play. Bordean led the charge with a three-set victory, while Mendoza Romero and Carter each earned straight-set wins to help clinch the team result.

Michigan Tech (1-2)
Michigan Tech enters with a 1-2 record after opening the season with a dominant 7-0 victory before dropping its two most recent matches. The Huskies bring a strong doubles presence, led by the unbeaten pairing of Caoimhe McDonnell and Emily Cojocaru.
