The Illinois Springfield men's track and field team travels to Allendale, Mich. this weekend for the GVSU Big Meet, one of the nation's largest and most competitive indoor track and field events. Hosted annually by Grand Valley State, the two-day meet attracts more than 1,000 athletes and features every NCAA indoor event. Competition takes place inside the Kelly Family Sports Center, home to a 300-meter indoor track.

UIS will be heavily represented in the distance events, where the Prairie Stars bring one of their largest event groups of the indoor season.

The 5,000m features an extensive UIS lineup that includes Charlie Borlin, Dom Cantarini, Colin Graham, Joey Karlesky, Ryan Kries, Brock Loftus, Matt Padilla, Garrett Wagoner, Owen Whelan, Isaac Cortes, and Lucas Naugle. The group includes a mix of experienced upperclassmen and developing underclassmen competing in one of the meet's deepest fields.

Many of those same runners will also compete in the 3,000m, including Borlin, Cantarini, Karlesky, Kries, Naugle, Padilla, Wagoner, Whelan, and Cortes. Will McGonigal is also entered in the event, giving UIS a large presence in the race.

In the middle-distance events, Finn Loken will represent UIS in the 800m, while Chase Cooley, Carson Cowling, and River Derby are entered in the mile.

With strong representation across the distance and middle-distance groups, UIS will compete against one of the most competitive indoor fields it will face this season.
