The UIS men's track and field team travels to Louisville, Ky., this Friday to compete at Bellarmine University's PNC Bank Classic.
UIS will be represented primarily in the middle-distance and distance events. The Prairie Stars are scheduled to compete four athletes in the 800 meters, including junior
Finn Loken, senior
Brock Loftus, and freshmen
River Derby and
Chase Cooley.
The mile run will feature Loftus, junior
Colin Graham, Derby, Cooley, junior
Carson Cowling, and sophomore Dominic Cantarini. Graham and Cantarini bring experience in the event, while the freshmen continue to develop at the collegiate level early this indoor season.
In the 3,000 meters, UIS will be led by senior
Will McGonigal and junior
Matt Padilla. Freshman
Charlie Borlin and juniors
Owen Whelan and
Lucas Naugle round out the Prairie Stars' entries.
The men's 5,000 meters will feature a strong group of distance runners, including
Daniel Giacomini,
Garrett Wagoner,
Ryan Kries, and
Logan Iott.
