The Illinois Springfield women's golf team finished third at the Kansas City Cup after Tuesday's final round was canceled due to rain and unplayable course conditions. The event was held at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville, Mo.
"Our third round was canceled due to rain and unplayable course conditions after five holes. It's tough because the team was ready to compete, and it's hard to leave without getting the chance to climb back toward the top of the leaderboard," assistant coach
Julie Hofmanova said. "I'm proud of their resilience and their readiness to play in tough conditions. Days like this will only make us better and prepare us for the next one."
UIS posted rounds of 310 and 313 for a 36-hole total of 623. McKendree claimed the team title with a score of 614, while Maryville finished runner-up at 615.
