The UIS women's tennis team fell 5-2 against Purdue Northwest on Sunday. With a lineup that features half freshmen, the Stars gained valuable match experience in what was a strong foundation-building week of the fall season.

Ema Norma Bordean and
Niamh Grogan dropped a 6-2 result at No. 1. Jane Carter and
Cristina Mendoza Romero pushed their match to a tiebreak before falling 7-6 (5) at No. 2. At No. 3, Maria Garcia Gama and Alisha Deogaonkar came up short 6-1.
UIS picked up two wins in singles.
Ema Norma Bordean showed resilience at No. 2 with a three-set victory, 7-5, 6-7 (2), 6-1. Jane Carter earned her first collegiate win at No. 4, also going the distance for a 6-4, 0-6, 7-5 result.
Cristina Mendoza Romero fell 6-1, 7,6, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while
Niamh Grogan dropped a competitive 6-3, 6-4 match at No. 3. Alisha Deogaonkar lost 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 5 slot, and Maria Garcia Gama fought through three sets before losing 6-1, 6-6 (7), 6-3 at No. 6.
