The Illinois Springfield women's tennis team closed out the regular season with a pair of close losses to tough GLVC opponents over the weekend. The Prairie Stars finished the season with a 1-11 overall record and a 1-4 mark in conference play.

Prior to the match on Saturday, the team honored its seniors — Carmen Llopis Fabra, Kamila Kalinowska, and Piper Schrepferman — with a pre-match recognition ceremony.

Indianapolis 5 | Illinois Springfield 2

• UIS claimed the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles by Carmen Llopis Fabra and Ema Norma Bordean and a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles by Niamh Grogan and Kamila Kalinowska. Cristina Mendoza Romero and Man Naum fell 6-2 at No. 3 doubles.
• No. 73 Carmen Llopis Fabra earned a major singles victory over No. 25-ranked Tyffaine Pais, winning 7-6, 3-6, 7-6 at No. 1.
• Ema Norma Bordean pushed her opponent to three sets but lost 6-1, 6-7, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.
• Kamila Kalinowska fell 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
• Niamh Grogan was defeated 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
• Cristina Mendoza Romero dropped a 6-2, 6-4 match at No. 5 singles.
• Man Naum lost 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.

McKendree 4 | Illinois Springfield 3

• UIS again secured the doubles point, as Carmen Llopis Fabra and Ema Norma Bordean won a tight 7-6 match at No. 1, and Niamh Grogan and Kamila Kalinowska earned a 6-2 victory at No. 2; Cristina Mendoza Romero and Man Naum fell 6-2 at No. 3.
• Senior Carmen Llopis Fabra picked up a singles win at No. 1, leading 6-4 before her opponent retired.
• Ema Norma Bordean lost 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2 singles.
• Senior Kamila Kalinowska fell 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
• Niamh Grogan was defeated 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
• Cristina Mendoza Romero battled but dropped a 6-4, 6-4 match at No. 5 singles.
• Piper Schrepferman was listed in the No. 6 singles spot on her Senior Day, and the matchup resulted in a default win for McKendree.
