The Illinois Springfield men's golf team finished tenth overall at the 2025 GLVC Championship, which was held Sunday and Monday in Bolivar, Mo. After battling through rain and wind during Sunday's opening round, the Prairie Stars slipped in the standings over the final two rounds of stroke play on Monday.
Championship Recap
- UIS opened the tournament with a solid 302 team score in round one, good enough for a tie for seventh place in rain and windy conditions.
- The Prairie Stars were led by Jake Baldin and Julien Babineau, who each carded a one-under-par 71 to sit in a tie for fourth after the opening round.
- In round two on Monday morning, Baldin remained near the top of the individual leaderboard—carding another 71, while Babineau shot a 76.
- Despite its efforts, UIS couldn't keep pace with several teams that surged ahead, including UMSL, Missouri S&T, and Lewis, each improving their second round scores by 15 strokes or more compared to the opening round.
- Charles Prins was subbed into the lineup for Francesco Abba Jr. beginning with round two, and the lineup remained unchanged for the final round.
- UIS closed out stroke play with its best round of the event, carding a 299 third round.
- Sacha Lamraski led the way in the final round with an even-par 72, bouncing back from earlier rounds of 83 and 77.
- Baldin posted a 74 to finish the tournament at even par (216) and in a tie for sixth place. Babineau added a second 76 to his total, finishing tied for 28th at +7. Additional finishes included Prins (T-50, +15), Lamraski (T-53, +16), Wilson (T-60, +18), and Abba (T-65, +21).
Jake Baldin's tied-for-sixth finish put him just outside of First Team All-GLVC honors. The Prairie Stars now await the results of additional All-GLVC voting
