UIS Women’s Tennis Set for Friday Match at Purdue Northwest

The Illinois Springfield women's tennis team will look to secure its first win of the season when it travels to Griffith, Ind., to face Purdue Northwest at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.

Illinois Springfield (0-5)
The Prairie Stars are coming off a 4-1 loss to Hillsdale on Feb. 23 and aim to find momentum before conference play begins in April.

Emma Norma Bordean entered the singles rankings at No. 69 last week. The freshman is 3-1 with wins against Washburn, Southwest Baptist, and Hillsdale. Carmen Llopis Fabra holds a 2-3 singles record. In doubles, Llopis and Bordean are 1-2 together, while Niamh Grogan and Kamila Kalinowska are also 1-2.

Purdue Northwest (2-8)
Purdue Northwest has dropped its last four matches, all against opponents from the Great Lakes Valley Conference, including a 4-1 loss to Missouri-St. Louis on March 9.

Romance Debrielle leads the Pride with a 4-2 singles record, followed by Salma Raslan at 3-2 and Alma Vazquez Rioja at 3-1.

UIS holds a 5-0 all-time record against the Pride, including a 4-3 victory in their last meeting in Springfield in February 2024.
