The Illinois Springfield women's basketball team hits the road on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup at Wisconsin-Parkside. Tipoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
Illinois Springfield (4-6, 1-3 GLVC)
UIS enters the Parkside game coming off an 87-76 home victory over Roosevelt on Sunday at TRAC. The Prairie Stars built a commanding early lead with a 25-9 first quarter and carried a 51-31 advantage into halftime.
Kayla Rice led all scorers with 22 points, while
Kennedy Osterman followed with 20.
Alandyn Simmons added 15 points off the bench, and freshman
Molly Knight contributed 12 points, continuing to provide key minutes for UIS. Roosevelt outscored the Prairie Stars 24-18 and 21-18 in the final two quarters, but UIS maintained control throughout behind efficient shooting and strong guard play.
Through 10 games, UIS ranks fourth in the GLVC in scoring offense at 68.9 points per game and sits seventh in field goal percentage. Individually, Rice ranks second in the conference in three-point percentage at 47.8 percent and leads the league with 2.6 steals per game. Osterman also ranks in the GLVC top five in three-point percentage at 40.9 percent.
Wisconsin-Parkside (4-5, 0-2 GLIAC)
Parkside enters Tuesday's matchup winless in its last three games and holds a 1-3 record at home this season. The Rangers' most recent win was a 55-50 road victory at Lewis on Nov. 25.
The Rangers average 61.7 points per game while allowing 60.6 and are shooting 40.2 percent from the field, including 24.5 percent from three-point range. Katie Hamill leads Parkside with 14.8 points per game, followed by Cassidy Arni at 13.1.
Parkside is strong on the glass, led by 6-foot guard Lillie Petersen, who averages 7.2 rebounds per game, while Arni adds 6.2 boards per contest. The Rangers are one of four teams currently sitting at 0-2 in GLIAC play.
