UIS Women's Cross Country Aims to Build on Strong Start at Lewis Crossover

10/9/2025 2:30:00 PM

The UIS women's cross country team heads to Romeoville, Ill., Saturday morning for the Lewis Crossover, one of the biggest DII meets of the year and a preview of the GLVC championship course. The race begins at 9:45 a.m., with runners tackling an initial hill before the course opens up into a layout that typically produces fast times.

The Prairie Stars enter the meet holding steady at No. 8 in the Midwest after a week without competition. Last outing, UIS delivered a historic performance, placing 11th out of 23 teams, with Madelyn Miller-Ross posting one of her best collegiate cross country finishes. The team is eager to maintain momentum against a strong field that includes Saginaw Valley State, Findlay, Walsh, and other top DII programs such as Colorado Christian, Biola, and Tampa.

UIS will line up alongside reigning GLVC champion Lewis and other conference teams like Quincy and Maryville, providing a strong measure of where the team stands heading into championship season.
