The UIS men's cross country team competes at the Lewis Crossover Saturday in Romeoville, Ill., with their race scheduled for 10:30 a.m. The course begins with an initial hill before flattening into a generally fast and manageable layout. This meet serves as one of the largest DII competitions of the year and a preview of the GLVC championship course.
After dropping out of the national rankings, the Prairie Stars remain just outside the top tier in the Midwest and are looking to improve on their performance from the Lucian Rosa Invitational. The field includes strong regional and national competition, such as GLVC champion Lewis, Saginaw Valley State (No. 2 in the Midwest), Findlay, Walsh, Alaska Anchorage, Colorado Mesa, and Biola.
UIS will aim to stay near the leaders over the opening hill and carry their pace across the course's open terrain to pursue strong individual and team results ahead of the GLVC championship.
