UIS Volleyball Falls to Pittsburg State in Three Sets

The UIS volleyball team fell to Pittsburg State in straight sets on Friday at the John Lance Arena in Pittsburg, Kansas. The final set scores were 25-18, 25-19, and 25-19. The Prairie Stars fell to 8-2 with one match to go at this weekend's tournament.
Match Summary
  • Set 1: UIS started the first set on a positive note, but as the set progressed, errors began to accumulate. Pittsburg State capitalized on these errors, taking the set 25-18
  • Set 2: The Prairie Stars fell behind early in the second set before a promising six-point run. UIS failed to regain the lead and ultimately dropped the set 25-19
  • Set 3: In a closely contested final set, UIS once again found itself on the losing end, falling 25-19. Makenna Cox stepped up, contributing several critical kills, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Gorillas' consistent play
  • Eirini Glynou and Makenna Cox led UIS with nine kills each, while Erica Sledge contributed two aces and 25 assists. On defense, Makenna Cox also recorded 12 digs
  • The Gorillas were powered by Ivy Fink, who registered 10 kills and contributed defensively with 11 digs. Anna Dean added four aces and five blocks for Pittsburg State
  • UIS recorded 36 kills compared to Pittsburg State's 43 and accumulated 41 digs against the Gorillas' 52
