Softball Drops Doubleheader to Hillsdale

The UIS Softball team fell in both games of a doubleheader against Hillsdale on Saturday at the Springfield Invitational. UIS falls to 9-7 on the season with the losses. 

GAME ONE (L, 6-7)

  • UIS took a lead in the first as Isabella Wilson had an RBI double

  • Hillsdale took a big lead in the second inning as they scored 6 runs

  • The Prairie Stars fought back in the bottom of the second as their comeback bid started with an Adi Rumler RBI single

  • Ella Brinkley laid down a sacrifice bunt to cut the lead to three

  • Malia Bender hit a double to drive in another run

  • Isabella Wilson earned another RBI on a groundout to make it 6-5 Hillsdale

  • The Chargers added a run in the seventh with an RBI double to make it 7-5

  • Ramsey Armstrong hit an RBI single in the seventh to make it a one run game again, but the Prairie Stars couldn't find another run

  • Rosie Bartletti (3-1) took the loss in the circle

GAME TWO (L, 0-10)

  • Hillsdale scored two runs in the first inning to take an early lead

  • The Chargers added three more runs in the third on a three-run homer

  • A two-run homerun made it 7-0 Hillsdale in the sixth

  • HC pushed across three more runs in the top of the seventh to make it 10-0 

  • Addyson McClure (0-1) earned the loss in the circle
