Women’s Basketball Downs Cardinals, Keeps Pace in Race for Conference Tournament Berth

The University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team kept their successful conference campaign going on Thursday night at TRAC with an 85-65 win. The Prairie Stars improve to 11-9 overall, with a 9-5 record in GLVC play. The Cardinals drop to 5-15 overall, with a 3-11 conference record.

 

Game Summary

  • Neither team had much rhythm offensively in the first five minutes of the first quarter

  • UIS opened up a small gap behind Liz Uhl and Jessenia Lawson 

  • A 14-1 run in the second quarter opened up a seventeen-point lead for the Stars

  • Jewell cut the lead down to seven, but UIS led 37-30 at the half
