The University of Illinois Springfield track and field program competed at the Bellarmine Open in Louisville, Ky. on Friday to open the 2024 indoor season.

Top Performances

• Anton Aduwa-Emovon grabbed a top-10 finish in the 60 meters in his collegiate debut despite running solo in his heat of the event. His time of 7.17 seconds lands him second on the UIS all-time list for the event. He went on to run the school record in the 200 meters with a time of 23.20 seconds
• Khaniya Higginbotha ran 8.44 in the women's 60 meters for a UIS #2 all-time mark
• Ryan Jones and Noah Tegeler finished 3rd and 8th respectively in the men's mile run. Jones holds the top GLVC mark in the event this season
• Breanna Chandler had two top-10 finishes; 8th in the mile run and 10th in the 800 meter run. Chandler holds the No. 3 spot in the GLVC standings in the 800 meter run
• Ellie Shonkwiler had her best shot put mark in indoor track and field, throwing for a length of 9.91 meters
• Briar Nevills ran 8:44.28 in the men's 3000 meters, the top time run by a GLVC athlete this track season
