Men’s Basketball Uses Strong Second Half to Pull Away From Upper Iowa

The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team continued their dominance at home with a win over an Upper Iowa squad that is receiving votes in the national poll on Thursday night. UIS improves to 12-5, with a 5-2 record in conference play. UIU drops to 8-5 on the season, with a 3-2 mark in the GLVC. 

 

Game Summary 

  • The first 10 minutes were all UIS as the Prairie Stars held a 28-13 lead following a jumper by Jordan Rice

  • The Peacocks went on a 20-4 run to take the lead with 3:09 left in the first half

  • UIS ended the half strong, but a buzzer-beating three by Jake Hilmer meant the Stars only went into the half up 42-38
