Sixteen Prairie Stars Softball Athletes Named Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes

Sixteen Prairie Stars softball student athletes earned 2022-23 Easton/NFCA All-America honors, the NFCA announced on August 1st. 

To be eligible for the award, a student athlete must have achieved a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA during the 2022-23 academic year.

Danielle Dennis posted a perfect 4.0 to help the team to a 3.659 GPA for the year.

The UIS softball team also earned Team Academic All-GLVC honors in 2022-23. Nineteen Prairie Stars were Academic All-GLVC individuals while three were Brothers James Gaffney Distinguished Scholars and seven earned the GLVC Council of Presidents' Academic Excellence Award. 

In 2022, nine Prairie Stars were named NFCA Scholar-Athletes. Kelsie Burrows, Danielle Dennis, Emma Garcia, Laney Gowin, Ashley Klinzing, and Reagan Miles have been recognized in back-to-back years. 

UIS softball went 34-24 in the 2023 season and claimed nine All-GLVC awards. The team advanced to the Midwest Regional As the No. 5 seed.
