The UIS softball team won three of four games this weekend including a doubleheader split against Missouri S&T.
GAME ONE
Taylor Zawacki led the offense with a double and a triple for her ninth straight game with a hit, and third straight multi-hit game while
Ashley Klinzing contributed two hits and two RBI.
Isabella Wilson's double in the bottom of the sixth allowed
Danielle Dennis to score and gave her the hit she needed to improve to eleven straight games with one or more hits. The UIS offense couldn't be stopped in this matchup in which they totaled two doubles, a triple, two stolen bases, and a sacrifice bunt.
Reagan Miles improved to 9-4, striking out seven Miners in 4.1 innings.
Rosie Bartletti added four more strikeouts to bring the total to eleven.
GAME TWO
Game two was won late as Missouri S&T got seven runners across home plate in the top of the seventh inning. Just one run was scored in the first five innings of play when
Isabella Wilson scored on a
Ramsey Armstrong single.
Rosie Bartletti led with two hits while seven other Prairie Stars added hits of their own.
Ramsey Armstrong and
Danielle Dennis each had one RBI.
Taylor Zawacki started in the circle for the Prairie Stars and picked up eight strikeouts in five innings.
Rosie Bartletti fell to 3-3 with the loss.
The Prairie Stars are 25-16 and 6-6 in GLVC play after the weekend. Next up is a doubleheader versus Truman State on Saturday in Kirksville, Mo.
