4/16/2023 11:37:00 AM

Eight Prairie Stars distance runners competed at the Azusa Pacific Bryan Clay Invitational and Long Beach State's Beach Invitational this week in Southern California. Sophomore Chris Cherry headlined with an NCAA DII top-10 time in the 10,000 meters.

The Prairie Stars started off hot with top-GLVC marks and some of the best times in program history. UIS Prairie Stars now hold the top three spots in the GLVC men's 10,000m. Chris Cherry is first with his NCAA Provisional 29:24 10,000 meter while Wyatt McIntyre (30:04) and Cort Ross (30:23) are second and third respectively with NCAA Provisional marks of their own. Cherry is the GLVC leader in the 1500 meters and 10,000 meters. He now holds NCAA Provisional marks in both events as well. Matt Moler is second in the GLVC standings with his UIS #3 time from Saturday.

Freshman Maddie Miller ran 39:21 in her 10,000m collegiate debut to land sixth in the GLVC standings between teammates Jade Aubrey and Emma Leahy

Noah McIntyre's 14:34 5,000m allowed him to join Cort Ross and Wyatt McIntyre in the top-5 of the GLVC standings.

Breanna Chandler's 1500m time from Saturday evening is just above her UIS #3 time she ran last week. She is eleventh in the current GLVC standings.
