Prairie Stars Compete at WashU Distance Carnival

Members of the UIS track and field team kicked off their outdoor season at the WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis, Mo. 

Noah Tegeler opened with a 21st place finish in the men's 10,000 meter run. Tegeler finished his career debut 10,000m in 33 minutes and 50 seconds. 

Breanna Chandler and Emma Leahy finished 20th and 25th, respectively, in the women's 5,000 meter run. Chandler lowered her personal best by two seconds and Leahy finished within seconds of her 5,000m personal record in her outdoor track and field debut. 

Matt Moler closed out the day for the Prairie Stars with a 4th place finish in the men's 5,000m. Moler was recently a medalist in the 800m, mile run, and distance medley relay at the GLVC Indoor Track and Field Championships.

UIS will be back in action tomorrow with a quick turnaround at Millikin's Alumni Invitational where field events are set to begin at 10:00 a.m. and running events start at 12:00 p.m.
