After leading for ten minutes in the first half, the University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team couldn't hang on to the lead, eventually falling to Truman State 98-84.
UIS stayed within four points of Truman State for much of the first quarter and took the lead with with just under two minutes remaining thanks to a three pointer by
Saharra Murphy. The Prairie Stars started hot with a 57.9% field goal percentage and kept the lead for most of the second quarter.
The third quarter was a back and forth battle in which the Bulldogs just barely outscored the Prairie Stars 26-23. Truman State took control in the final five minutes and ended the game with a pair of successful free throws.
Ariyah Douglas was the leading scorer for the Prairie Stars with 24 points.
Liz Uhl,
Ivey Schmidt, and
Ava Bardic joined Douglas in the double digits.

The Prairie Stars hold one of the top free throw percentages in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. UIS was 13-15 from the free throw line on Thursday night with
Liz Uhl making 6-of-7, and
Ava Bardic making 4-of-4.
The Prairie Stars are now 2-13 in the GLVC. UIS is set to face the Quincy Hawks in Quincy, Ill. on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
