The University of Illinois Springfield softball team went 4-0 against regional opponents at Kentucky Wesleyan's Blue Bridge Battle.
GAME ONE
The Prairie Stars kicked off the weekend with a 9-1 win over Kentucky Wesleyan.
Rosie Bartletti (2-1) had the win, striking out seven batters and allowing just one run in five innings.
Ella Brinkley had one hit and two RBI, while
Taylor Zawacki,
Emma Garcia, and
Isabella Wilson each recorded two runs.
Ashley Klinzing stole two bases against the Panthers.
GAME TWO
Taylor Zawacki (2-2) picked up her second win of the spring when UIS defeated Trevecca Nazarene by a score of 4-0. Zawacki racked up ten strikeouts, allowing just three hits in seven innings.
Rosie Bartletti stole two bases and scored two runs, and was one of four Prairie Stars who had two hits versus the Trojans.
GAME THREE
UIS also started their second day of the Blue Bridge Battle with a 9-1 win, this time over Northwood. The Prairie Stars stole five bases in the matchup.
Isabella Wilson led the offense with two hits, two runs, and four RBI.
Ella Brinkley and
Kelsie Burrows also had two hits apiece.
Reagan Miles (3-1) had the win, striking out five batters in four innings.
GAME FOUR
UIS closed out the weekend with a 6-2 win over Davenport in which
Ashley Klinzing and
Rosie Bartletti each stole two bases.
Isabella Wilson and
Rosie Bartletti had two hits apiece while six different Prairie Stars scored runs.
Taylor Zawacki, now 3-2, struck out eleven batters in seven innings.
The Prairie Stars are 9-4, and on a four-game winning streak. UIS will return home on March 4-5 to host the Springfield Invitational tournament at Spartan Sports Park.
