The University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team defeated William Jewell by a score of 89-57 at home on Senior Day.
The Prairie Stars and the Cardinals traded the lead just twice. UIS was up 40-31 at the half, then went on an eight point run at the start of the third quarter to create more separation. The 32-point win is the team's biggest of the season.Â
The UIS defense had a strong day, holding the Cardinals to 33.9% from the field and 30.7% from three-point range. Senior
Olivia Stephens collected four of the team's five steals, eight rebounds, and one block.
Saharra Murphy had season best of ten rebounds, including eight from the defensive end. Offensively, the Prairie Stars shot 46.5% from the field and 73.3% from the free throw line.Â
Ariyah Douglas made 10-of-20 from the field in her 27-point game.
Brianna Zajicek was 8-15 with 20 points, and
Liz Uhl added 18 points.Â
UIS improves to 4-22 overall and 4-14 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars will go on the road for the final week of the regular season.Â
