UIS Softball completed a weekend of competition in Smyrna, Tenn. on Saturday. UIS won 3-2 over regional opponent Ashland before falling to Harding 7-1 (DII, South Central Region).
GAME ONE
Reagan Miles started on the mound and picked up her second win of the season (2-1). Miles allowed three hits and one run in three innings.Â
UIS scored one run in the bottom of the second and led until Ashland tied the game in the fourth.
Rosie Bartletti drew a walk before stealing both second and third in the bottom of the sixth inning. Bartletti and Klinzing scored and UIS took the lead. The Eagles were unsuccessful in their rally, scoring just one run in the top of the seventh.Â
Ashley Klinzing and
Jillian Mathis each had one hit and one run, while
Emma Garcia contributed one hit and one RBI.Â
GAME TWO
The Harding Bisons scored four runs in the third inning of
Taylor Zawacki's second loss this season (1-2).
Ella Brinkley responded with a home run to put the Prairie Stars on the board before Harding could stack three more runs in the bottom of the fourth.Â
Harding's L. Tanski (3-0) held the UIS to three hits from three different batters. The Bisons entered the matchup with the Prairie Stars 10-2, batting .309 and holding a 3.15Â average ERA.Â
UIS, now 5-4, will travel to Owensboro, Ky. next week for two days of play in Kentucky Wesleyan's Blue Bridge Battle.Â
