The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team evened their record with a 10-8 win over No. 21 Missouri Southern on Saturday.
The Missouri Southern Lions scored once in each of the first two innings. UIS put one point on the board in the fourth when
Peyton Dillingham homered to left field.
UIS tied it 4-4 in the seventh inning as
Brandon Bannon flied out to center field, allowing
Johnny Colombo to score. The Prairie Stars then took the lead when
Asher Bradd scored on an RBI double by
Peyton Dillingham.
A one-run lead wasn't enough for the Prairie Stars who hit two home runs in the top of the eighth, increasing their home run count to four. Missouri Southern responded to the 5-run inning with a homer of their own, and their third in the game.
The Lions rallied, collecting three runs in their last shot at a win.
Tyler Horvath allowed two hits and walked one batter before striking out two batters. Missouri Southern left two runners stranded at the end of the ninth.
Joey Cecola pickup up his first career win on the mound. Cecola allowed one hit when he entered the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.

No. 10 Illinois Springfield, now 3-3, will play Missouri Western on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. for their final game of the Missouri Southern Invitational.
