The University of Illinois Springfield softball team is 2-3 at the conclusion of their first weekend of competition. The Prairie Stars fell 6-1 to Missouri Western on Sunday morning before coming back to defeat Missouri Southern 3-2.
UIS VERSUS MISSOURI WESTERN
The Prairie Stars scored first in the top of the fourth inning before Missouri Western State Griffons responded with two runs. The Griffons sealed the deal with four runs in the fifth inning.
UIS was limited to just three hits against the Missouri Western.
Ramsey Armstrong had one hit and one RBI and
Jillian Mathis collected the sole run for the Prairie Stars. UIS left four runners stranded during the matchup.
Rosie Bartletti picked up her first loss on the mound this season by allowing three hits and two runs.
UIS VERSUS MISSOURI SOUTHERN
Reagan Miles earned the win on the mound against Missouri Southern, advancing her record to 1-1.
The Prairie Stars tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, earning an opportunity to take the game from the Lions.
Rosie Bartletti singled and stole second, then
Danielle Dennis reached first base on an error by the Missouri Southern shortstop and Bartletti scored the needed run.
UIS softball will compete next weekend at the Music City Invitational in Smyrna, Tenn.
