UIS track and field had two top-10 performances at the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Mich. on Saturday, including the men's distance medley relay's 4th place finish and Gabe Martinez's 3rd place finish in the mile.

Noah McIntyre, Matt Moler, Ryan Jones, and Chris Cherry ran 9:51.03 in the distance medley relay for an NCAA DII Provisional mark. It is the second best DMR time in UIS men's track and field history. The Prairie Stars are #14 in the NCAA DII in the event as of Saturday evening. UIS also leads the conference, with Lewis in second at 9:59.48. 

Gabe Martinez ran a personal record 4:14.37 mile to take 3rd place on Saturday. the No. 5 GLVC time allows Martinez to join Chris Cherry, Noah McIntyre, Matt Moler, and Ryan Jones in the top-6 of the GLVC. UIS was No. 10 in the most recent USTFCCCA Event Squad rankings for the men's mile with a 4:09.77 average for the team's top four runners. UIS is likely to appear in the Event Squad Rankings in the Mile and 3000 meter in Week 4. 

Breanna Chandler had the top distance event performance for the UIS women with a 10:24 3000 meter run. Chandler's time is the current GLVC #12 mark. 

The trio of Hayley Goebel, Ellie Shonkwiler, and Maggie George recorded big personal records in shot put to represent UIS in the field events. Goebel stands twelfth in the GLVC in weight throw as of Saturday evening.
