The first Jimmy John's Athlete of the Month has been announced by UIS Athletics. Sierra Cenek of UIS women's soccer is the October 2023 honoree.

Cenek is a senior forward from Peoria, Ill. The starter scored six goals in the month of October, including three in one game against William Jewell on Oct. 13 in which she also had an assist. It was an accomplishment that earned her the program's first GLVC Offensive Player of the Week and United Soccer Coaches College Player of the Week awards.

She became the fifth Prairie Star women's soccer student athlete to record a hat trick, the first in a decade, and joined Head Coach Erin Egolf in the record book under single-game goals.

Cenek's excellent performances in the month of October and overall contributions to her team's success have raised the bar for the Prairie Stars!
