The UIS-BOS Turkey Trot returns Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 26, inviting students, families, friends and the Springfield community to kick off the holiday with a 5K run or walk. The race begins at 8 a.m. at the University of Illinois Springfield's Recreation and Athletics Center (TRAC).

The Turkey Trot continues a longstanding partnership between UIS Athletics and the Bank of Springfield and offers plenty of Thanksgiving spirit along the way. A DJ will provide music throughout the morning, while age-group winners will take home pumpkin pies following the race.

Registration is $35, with proceeds benefiting the growing UIS Cross Country and Track program. Register by Nov. 13 to receive an event T-shirt. Registration will remain open after that date, but T-shirts are not guaranteed for late registrants.

Packet pickup will take place inside TRAC on Wednesday, Nov. 25, from 3 to 6 p.m. or on race day, Nov. 26, from 6 to 8 a.m.

The race will begin just south of TRAC near University Drive. Participants should plan to arrive early to allow time for packet pickup and race-day preparations.

Whether you're a seasoned runner, a casual walker or simply looking for a fun way to spend Thanksgiving morning with family and friends, the UIS-BOS Turkey Trot offers an opportunity to get moving and support Prairie Star athletics. Join us Nov. 26!
