Volleyball Falls Short Against No. 24 Rockhurst

The UIS volleyball team fell to 9-13 (3-6 GLVC) with a loss to the nationally ranked Rockhurst Hawks. 

Match Summary
  • The Prairie Stars picked up a first set win after shooting ahead to a 6-2 lead. Rockhurst trailed from that point, then nine attack errors, one service error, and one ball handling error by the Hawks made the difference in the close set
  • Rockhurst was more dominant over the following two sets, winning them 25-15 and 25-11
  • UIS rallied in a fourth set that started with an 8-4 lead for RU. UIS was back within four points late in the stanza but could not push the match to a fifth set
  • Eirini Glynou was one of three Prairie Stars who had a double-double with her 15 kill, 13 dig, 15.5 point day
  • Maria Spengler had 13 kills and 11 digs
  • Erica Sledge contributed 34 assists and 15 digs as one of five Prairie Stars with 10 digs or more

  • Quincy defeated Rockhurst in their ranked matchup
  • No. 13 Lewis fell to unranked Missouri S&T
  • Southwest Baptist had two wins, one against a non-conference opponent. 
  • Missouri S&T, Quincy, and Missouri-St. Louis all picked up two wins against GLVC opponents
  • Missouri-St. Louis and Quincy are both 9-0 in conference play while UMSL remains undefeated at 24-0, and Quincy has had just one loss this season at 23-1
