The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team dropped a game to No. 10 Indianapolis at TRAC on Thursday. The Prairie Stars fell behind in the first half and couldn't complete a second-half comeback in the 62-57 loss.
Max Kunnert led the Prairie Stars with 25 points, including a few game changing shots.Â
Jacob Hanna was next with 15 points, while also collecting eight rebounds and two blocks.Â
The teams had a slow start to scoring at TRAC on Thursday, and were just 17-8 after ten minutes of play. UIS trailed through the half, with
Jordan Rice hitting a jump shot just before halftime to bring UIS within seven points of the Greyhounds.Â
The pace of play increased when
Jacob Hanna started the second half with a dunk and made a layup within the same minute to shrink the Greyhound's lead to five. Back-to-back three-pointers by
Max Kunnert then put the Prairie Stars head-to-head with the #10 team in the nation. UIS improved their shooting to 43.3% in the second half and pulled six points ahead of UIndy. A good three-pointer and three free throws in the final minute allowed Indianapolis to come away with the win.Â
The Prairie Stars now hold an even 6-6 conference record, and are 12-8 overall. UIS will take on McKendree at TRAC on Saturday.Â
