The University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis program competed over the weekend at the ITA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament in Allendale, Mich.
 
Eva Rubio made her UIS debut and advanced to the round of 16 in the "A" Draw. She won her first-round match in a tiebreaker, and only lost three games in her two-set win in round two. In the third round, she forced a tiebreaker with a second set win, but fell in the extra play.
 
In the singles "B" draw, a pair of UIS players won first-round matches in Franca Bucco and Sina Skjelstad. Skjelstad also won her second-round match in a tiebreaker before falling in the third round.
 
In doubles, Carmen Llopis Fabra and Skjelstad advanced to the quarterfinals in the "B" draw. They won two matches by scores of 8-3 and 8-6, before having a narrow 9-7 loss in their third match.
