The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team scored the first goal on Sunday in St. Louis, and then held on from there for a victory. The Prairie Stars defeated Missouri-St. Louis by a 1-0 margin.

The game featured limited scoring chances for both teams. The two teams combined for just 16 total shots, including six shots on goal.

UIS had just a single shot in the first half, but that turned out to be the game's only goal. In the 17th minute,
Sierra Cenek passed the ball to
Abby Dellamorte outside of the box. Dellamorte took the long shot, and it hit off the far left post and deflected across the goal line.

The Prairie Stars defense did the rest, allowing just nine shots and three shots on goal, and conceding just one corner kick.
Allison Mirimanian made three saves for her fourth shutout of the year, including her third over the last four contests.

Louise Anderson played all 90 minutes in the team's backfield.

UIS improves to 3-3-2 on the season, and 2-1-0 in GLVC action. The Prairie Stars return home next Friday for their Homecoming contest against Indianapolis.
