The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team earned its first road victory of the season on Sunday afternoon in St. Louis, Mo. The Prairie Stars defeated Missouri-St. Louis by a 1-0 score.

UIS dominated the game statistically, but was just barely able to escape with the win. UIS attempted 23 shots, compared to just five for Missouri-St. Louis. Shots on goal were an 11-1 advantage for the Prairie Stars. UIS also attempted 10 corner kicks in the game, and allowing just a single one.

Despite those numbers, the Prairie Stars got just one shot past the Missouri-St. Louis goalkeeper who finished with 10 saves. In the 47th minute,
Luke Ridley sent the ball into the box. A Tritons defender couldn't clear it, and
Billy Nzojyibwami was right there to score the game's only goal.

Alberto Valsecchi earned the shutout in goal, and he received help, from among others,
Drew Keller and
Terence Bynoe. Those two defenders played all 90 minutes in the game, and helped limit the Tritons to just the one shot on goal.

UIS moves to 2-3-1 overall on the season, and 1-1-1 in GLVC action. The Prairie Stars will return home next Friday for their Homecoming contest versus Indianapolis.
