The University of Illinois Springfield women's cross country squad competed against a mostly NCAA Division I field on Friday at the Redbird Invite. The Prairie Stars came in seventh, including defeating one of those upper level programs.

Jade Anderson led the way for the Prairie Stars, coming in 35th overall with a time of 23:32.

Emma West, and
Breanna Chandler all finished in under 25 minutes, and placed between 49th and 54th. Rounding out the team's top-five was Maddie Miller, who came in 67th.

As a team, UIS had 212 points at the conclusion of the race. The Prairie Stars defeated SIU-Edwardsville and Heartland Community College. Butler won the competition with 27 points.

UIS will be in action again on Oct. 8 at the Lewis Crossover.
