The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team split a pair of matches on Friday at the Eagle Classic. The Prairie Stars won their season opener over Fort Hays State, but lost to the host school, Oklahoma Christian, later in the day.

UIS won the Fort Hays State match by scores of 25-23, 25-16, and 25-21. UIS had 10 more kills in the sweep, and hit .259 as a team. Defensively, the Prairie Stars held the Tigers to just .148 hitting.

Angela Denney led UIS offensively with 18 kills, and
Eirini Glynou opened up her UIS career with 10.
Zanea Spencer had nine kills and double-digit points.
Regan Trueblood had 37 assists and 12 digs, and
Amanda McConnell led the team with 14 digs.
Macarena Flores had a team-best three blocks, and
Ericka Snopko and Spencer each had two service aces.

In the second match of the day, the Prairie Stars fell to Oklahoma Christian by scores of 25-22, 25-23, and 25-20. Oklahoma Christian won the match at the net, recording 12 blocks and holding UIS to a .057 hitting percentage.

Denney and Trueblood both had double-doubles in the match. Denney finished with 12 kills and 12 digs, while Trueblood had 27 assists and 10 digs. Glynou had a team-high three service aces, McConnell led the team with 13 digs, and
Audrey Naberhaus and Glynou had a pair of blocks.

UIS will be in action again tomorrow at the tournament, taking on Arkansas Tech and Westminster.
