Three members of the University of Illinois Springfield baseball team were named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans. Kal Youngquist was a first-team selection, and Austin Alderman and Brandon Bannon were third-team picks.

Youngquist earned Academic All-American honors for the second time in his career after being a second-team selection last season. He was one of four members on this year's baseball list to repeat that honor, and he is the first male student-athlete at UIS to earn multiple Academic All-American honors.

In the latest national rankings, Youngquist was seventh in the nation in walks, and 21st in RBI. He ranked in the top-10 in the GLVC in walks, doubles, on-base percentage, and RBI. He batted .337 this season with a .611 slugging percentage and .482 on-base percentage. He had 57 runs and 72 RBI, and he hit 18 doubles and 13 home runs. He was named first-team all-GLVC and was an all-region selection.

Off the field, Youngquist is a two-time Academic All-District selection, and was named to the GLVC Academic All-Conference team in each of his first two seasons.

Alderman and Bannon both earned Academic All-American honors for the first time. They are the third and fourth players in program history to earn the award.

Alderman was a first-team all-conference and second-team all-region player this year. He ranks in the top-50 nationally in hits, runs, RBI, home runs, and total bases. He finished the season batting .354 with .646 slugging and .459 on-base percentage marks. He had 66 runs and 66 RBI in 59 games, and he recorded nine doubles, four triples, and 16 home runs.

Alderman earned Academic All-District honors for the second time this year. He has been named to the GLVC Academic All-Conference team in each of his years at UIS.

Bannon was an honorable mention All-American, and first-team all-GLVC and all-region honoree in 2022. He ranks in the top-20 nationally in walks, hits, and runs. Bannon batted .365 with a .601 slugging and .474 on-base percentage. He scored 87 runs, drove in 54, and had 19 doubles, three triples, 10 home runs, and 13 stolen bases.
