Six Baseball Players Honored On ABCA All-Region Lists, Including Third Player Of The Year Award For Pettigrew

The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced its NCAA Division II all-region teams on Wednesday. Zion Pettigrew completed a sweep by being named Midwest Region Player of the Year for all three regional baseball awards. Kal Youngquist, Brandon Bannon, Austin Alderman, Brant Vanaman, and Colton Hale were all second-team selections.
 
Pettigrew has been one of the top hitters in NCAA Division II this season, including leading the nation with 93 RBI. He is also in the top-10 nationally with 54 walks, 92 hits, 27 home runs, 78 runs, 195 total bases, a .544 on-base percentage, and a .907 slugging percentage.
 
Youngquist currently ranks 20th in the nation with 72 RBI. He has a .489 on-base percentage, and has 57 runs, 18 doubles, and 13 home runs.
 
Bannon is third nationally with 87 runs this season. He has a .479 on-base percentage to go along with 19 doubles, three triples, 10 home runs, and 54 RBI.
 
Alderman ranks in the top-50 in NCAA Division II with 66 runs and 65 RBI. He has a .656 slugging percentage, and has hit nine doubles, four triples, and 16 home runs.
 
Vanaman is in the top-40 nationally with 20 doubles, 16 home runs, and 67 RBI. He has a .659 slugging percentage, and has scored 63 times this season.
 
Hale is second in the nation with 12 victories on the mound. He is 12-1 with a 3.40 ERA. Opponents are batting just .229 off of him, and he has 87 strikeouts in 82 innings.
