The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced the bracket for the 2022 GLVC Baseball Championship Tournament. The University of Illinois Springfield baseball squad is the one-seed out of the blue division, and will open the event against William Jewell on Thursday at 4 p.m.

This year's tournament will take place May 12-15 at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo. The championship event will feature the top four teams from the Blue and Green Division. Out of the blue division, UIS was first, followed by Quincy, Lewis, and Indianapolis. The Green Division is led by first-seed Drury, and then followed by Maryville, Lindenwood, and William Jewell.

UIS ended the regular season with a 39-8 overall record, and it went 19-5 overall. The Prairie Stars were ranked No. 7 in NCAA Division II in the latest national poll. William Jewell is currently 30-19 overall, and it went 15-13 in GLVC play.

The matchup between UIS and William Jewell will feature two of the top offenses in the GLVC. Both teams are batting .338 for the season. UIS is averaging 10.3 runs a game, while the Cardinals are scoring 8.5

On the mound, UIS is second in the GLVC with a 4.46 ERA, while William Jewell is seventh with a 6.61 mark.

The Prairie Stars and Cardinals have not met yet this season. UIS is 13-4-1 all-time against William Jewell, including a four-game sweep in 2021 by a combined score of 66-17.
