The University of Illinois Springfield softball team had three players named to the GLVC all-conference teams on Thursday.
Danielle Dennis and
Jillian Mathis were second-team selections, and
Carly Chovanec was a third-team pick.

Dennis, a second baseman, earned all-GLVC honors for the second straight year after being a first-team honoree in 2021. This season, she ranks in the top-10 in the GLVC in doubles, on-base percentage, runs per game, stolen bases, and walks per game. She also leads NCAA Division II with seven sacrifice flies.

Dennis is batting .387 with a .635 slugging percentage and .474 on-bas percentage. She has tied the school's single-season RBI record with 40, and has scored 44 times. She has team-highs with 15 doubles, five home runs, and 87 total bases.

In her career, Dennis is batting .392 with a .646 slugging percentage, and .479 on-base percentage. She has 85 runs and 86 RBI, and is the school's career leader with 35 doubles.

Mathis earned her first all-GLVC honor as a utility player, as she split time between the outfield and as a designated player. She currently ranks third in the conference with a .402 batting average.

Mathis leads the team in batting average, is second with a .573 slugging percentage, and third with a .423 on-base percentage. She has 28 RBI, which is second on the team, and has scored 20 times. She has 47 hits, including five doubles, a team-high three triples, and three home runs.

In her three years at UIS, she is batting .362 with a .524 slugging percentage and .377 on-base percentage. She has 31 runs, 49 RBI, 11 doubles, four triples, and five home runs.

Chovanec, a shortstop, earned her second all-GLVC award after being first-team in 2021. This season, she currently ranks third in NCAA Division II with 1.00 stolen bases per game. She leads the GLVC in both runs and stolen bases.

Chovanec has tied the school's single-season stolen base record with 47 thefts in just 52 attempts. She is batting .384 with a .570 slugging and .466 on-base percentages. She has a team-high 49 runs, two away from the school record, and is tied for the team-high with five homers. She has batted in 18 runners, and has nine doubles and two triples.

In three years at UIS, Chovanec is batting .370 with a .529 slugging percentage and .437 on-base percentage. She has scored 84 runs and driven in 38. She has collected 21 doubles, five triples, six home runs, and 63 stolen bases.

The trio of all-conference players have helped UIS have one of the top scoring teams in the GLVC this season, averaging 5.49 runs per game.
