Danielle Dennis and Jillian Mathis Earn All-Region Honors

University of Illinois Springfield softball players Danielle Dennis and Jillian Mathis were both named all-region performers on Wednesday. Dennis was a first-team all-region selection by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), and a second-team pick in the D2CCA all-region list. Mathis was a second-team honoree by the NFCA
 
Dennis is now a two-time all-region performer after also being a first-team selection last year by the NFCA. She is a two-time all-GLVC selection as well.
 
This past season, she ranked in the top-10 in the GLVC in doubles, on-base percentage, runs, and stolen bases. She was also tied for first nationally for the most sacrifice flies. Dennis tied the UIS single-season record for RBI, and had top-five marks for a season in slugging percentage, batting average, on-base percentage, runs, doubles, and total bases.
 
Dennis batted .381 for the season with team-highs of a .626 slugging percentage and a .472 on-base percentage. She also led the team with 53 hits, 15 doubles, five homers, 40 RBI, and 87 total bases. Dennis scored 44 times, had two triples, and 19 stolen bases.
 
For her career, Dennis has played in 112 games over the last three seasons. She is batting .390 with a .642 slugging percentage and .478 on-base percentage. She has 85 runs, 124 hits, 35 doubles, three triples, 13 home runs, 86 RBI, and 33 stolen bases.
 
Mathis earned all-region honors for the first time, after also being a second-team all-GLVC pick.
 
Mathis finished the year fourth in the GLVC with a .398 batting average. That was the second-best mark in program history for a season.
 
Mathis was second on the team with a .568 slugging percentage and third with a .420 on-base mark. She was second on the team with 28 RBI, and she recorded 20 runs, 47 hits, five doubles, three triples, three home runs, and 67 total bases.
 
In her three years at UIS, Mathis now has a .360 batting average, .521 slugging percentage, and .376 on-base percentage. In 95 games, she has 31 runs, 76 hits, 11 doubles, four triples, five home runs, and 49 RBIs.
