Women's Tennis Looks To Stay Unbeaten In GLVC Play Against Tough Opposition

The University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis team is home for the first time in GLVC play this week. On Saturday, the Prairie Stars host No. 10 Indianapolis at Glenwood High School. Sunday, UIS takes on No. 65 Lewis. The Prairie Stars are ranked No. 72 in this week's ITA rankings.
 
UIS is now 6-6 on the season, and 1-0 in conference play. The Prairie Stars just beat McKendree this past weekend by a 5-0 score.
 
UIS has improved doubles play with Riann Hsu and PiperSchrepferman holding a winning record of 7-4, and it was able to win an important doubles point against McKendree this weekend thanks to pairs two and three winning 6-3 and 6-0.
 
In singles, Hsu is now 8-3 in the season and Kamila Kalinowska has a positive record of 6-3. Against McKendree the top four players in the singles lineup were able to win in straight sets and clinch the victory before numbers 5 and 6 were already done.

Indianapolis enters play this week with a 10-2 record. This past weekend they played their first GLVC Conference match of the season, defeating Lewis by a 7-0 margin.
 
UIS will try to defeat Indianapolis for the first time. Last year, the result was 6-1, with Neha Mokhasi winning her singles match at number four.

All-Time Series (NCAA Era): Lewis leads 6-2

Lewis enters play this week with a 10-4 overall record. This past weekend they played their first GLVC match against University of Indianapolis, losing 7-0.
 
Last year, the result was 4-3 for the Prairie Stars in a very close match. Franca Bucco was able to win to bring the victory home.

UIS will hit the road the following week for a GLVC road contest at Southern Indiana on Friday, April 15.
