The University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis team took another step towards a GLVC Tournament berth on Friday in Springfield, Ill. The Prairie Stars earned a conference victory over Maryville by a 4-0 score.
 
UIS fell in the first doubles match, but bounced back to capture the other two matches. At No. 1, Carmen Llopis Fabra and Sina Skjelstad earned a 7-5 victory. The No. 2 match was even closer and went to a tiebreaker. Franca Bucco and Riann Hsu won the tiebreaker by a 7-3 margin.
 
In singles play, UIS won the top three matches to close out the contest. Skjelstad and Hsu won in the straight set, and Fabra won in three sets.
 
UIS improves to 8-8 on the season and 3-2 in conference action. The Prairie Stars end the regular season tomorrow with a 10 a.m. match on campus against Lindenwood.
